Roadworks to cause 'significant' delays
By Ally McRoberts
MOTORISTS will face “significant delays” for 42 days as £1.5 million of road maintenance starts next week on the A985 near Kincardine.
Work will begin on the reconstruction of the carriageway at Devilla Forest on Tuesday as well as drainage, signs and road markings improvements.
It will mean long tailbacks and delays for motorists as there are two sets of temporary traffic lights and, during certain operations, convoy vehicles will escort traffic through the site at just 10mph.
At other times a 30mph speed limit will be in place.
Transport Scotland’s Ann Mellon said, “This stretch of road is nearing the end of its useful life and the work is vital to ensure that the safety of the carriageway and ensure it continues to operate effectively for years to come.”
She added that motorists are asked to plan their journeys accordingly and urged to show due care and attention while passing the works.
It’s part of Transport Scotland’s investment in the trunk road network and will be carried out by Leiths Scotland Ltd with BEAR Scotland supervising the work.
It’s not due to be completed until 8th April.
