THE Australian Pink Floyd Show, widely recognised as one of the world’s best tribute bands, have announced they are to kick-off their UK tour at Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre.

The band will use the venue for rehearsals for the tour, which will see them perform a new production of ‘The Wall’, 30 years after the classic album was released.

The show is billed as “the world premiere of an amazing new stage production” and the Alhambra’s large stage will provide the space required for the laser and animation spectacular.

The Dunfermline show, on Saturday 11th April, is one of only three Scottish dates – the others being the SECC and the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre – and the English leg takes in such top flight venues as the Wembley Arena and the MEN Arena in Manchester.

Alhambra owner Bill Fletcher said, “It’s another sign of the progress we’ve made in a short space of time that we’ve been chosen alongside the SECC and Aberdeen Exhibition Centre for the band’s only Scottish concerts.”

A West Fife jazz band says that playing the Alhambra in Dunfermline will be the highlight of their year – even more so than their sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Razz Big Band scored a hit with their Broadway Swings show at this year’s festival.

The performance features classic jazz versions of Broadway tunes made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Buble.

West Fifers can look forward to hearing hits such as Big Spender, All That Jazz and I Get a Kick out of You, at their show in December.

A band spokesperson said, “The Fringe was very special for everyone involved but the Alhambra will be better still, being just a year since the formal launch event for the venue.”

The concert will be staged on Saturday 20th December at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by phoning 0870 4000 700. They can also be bought in person from 3rd Base Records, Chapel Street, Dunfermline.
