DYING Dalgety Bay father Willie Logan, who has a terminal brain tumour, was determined to make the most of the festive period with the people he loves.
And Willie, due to get his latest bout of treatment on New Year"s Day, has made a resolution that makes his situation seem, well, ordinary.
He wants to lose weight.
The Press broke the story in May that Willie (44) had decided to stop getting treatment for his brain tumour so that he could enjoy the short time he had left with his wife, Karen, and six-year-old son, Ewan.
He since backtracked on that plan and is trying his best to live an ordinary life.
'I still play golf,' said Willie, of Otterston Grove.
'I"m also mad about the new crazy golf up at Halbeath. I take the wee boy up on a Saturday. He loves it when he gets a hole in one, especially when I don"t.'
But Pars-daft Willie admitted, 'I"ve cut the football down though. It"s too cold and my body can"t take the cold any more so I have to pick and choose when I go to games.'
Willie said he had resolved to exercise more and get himself fitter and has taken to daily running up the stairs at home.
'I"m trying to get my weight down as I went up to over 18 stone and now I"m down to about 17 stone,' he said.
'Sometimes I"ll leave the pub early to try to walk home. It knackers me as I"ve had to increase the steroids I"ve been taking.'
Willie has also been enjoying trips to the Victoria Hospice in Kirkcaldy, where he has made a host of new friends with other patients.
'It is the highlight of my life just now and you are well looked after,' he said.
'The hospice has been really good and has helped build my confidence again.
'All the people in there do so much for you it"s unbelievable. There are physios, psychologists, nurses and volunteers.
"My test results are getting sent there now too and the doctor can just pull me aside one day without the need for an appointment.
'Since November I"ve been going one day a week but after the holidays I"ll go two days a week as there is that much to do.'
The future for Willie in the coming year is uncertain and he is waiting to see how his health develops before making any plans.
'I"ve not looked that far ahead into the New Year,' he said. 'I will see how things are and how I"m doing. I"ve never been upset about the illness. I just get on with it.'
