AN indoor athletics event held on Monday rounded off a series of sports festivals organised by the Dunfermline & West Fife Sports Council during 2006.

Nearly 300 kids from nine primary schools packed into the Carnegie Leisure Centre to take part in seven different exercises – sprints, javelin, shot putt, long jump, speed bounce, triple jump and vertical jump.

The individual male and female winner of each exercise was presented with a medal, while winning schools on the day were Townhill Primary, who won the P7 indoor athletics festival salver, and Inverkeithing Primary, who won the festival cup.

Alasdair Donaldson, Pitreavie athlete and athletics development manager for Sport Tayside & Fife, was on hand to look after the technical side of things on the day and he was helped by other Pitreavie athletes and pupils from Queen Anne High School.
