Cup final can wait – Kenny
By Sports Desk
THE cup final can wait. That was the message from East End Park this week with Pars boss Stephen Kenny keen to continue his side’s growing momentum in the battle to beat the drop.
Monday night’s gutsy 1-0 win at relegation rivals St Mirren reduced the gap to one point, with three games left, starting with Monday night’s screen test at home to Motherwell.
Athletic have slashed ticket prices for Monday night’s game in a bid to get as many fans to back the Great Escape as possible and Kenny told Press Sport, “The cup final can wait. I am not concerned about that now.
“We have three cup finals here in between which will have a bigger impact on our long term future.
“Motherwell have beaten Dunfermline three times this season but I think we are playing a lot better now and, hopefully, we will have a passionate crowd on Monday night. We look a lot stronger in all departments and we don’t look like conceding a goal at the moment.
“When we were nine points down I was asked whether I would prefer to stay up or reach a cup final and get into Europe. I said I wanted both and there’s no reason we can’t achieve both. We’ve achieved one but the bigger task has still to be achieved.
“We’re looking to progress as a club. We are building a really good side now, the players are feeling more confident to express themselves, their conditioning is better.”
Adult prices for the Motherwell game have come down to just £12, while kids under 16 can get in for £1. To avoid queues on the night, kids’ tickets can be bought from the ticket office or club shop and will be available on matchday from the ticket office (until 7.15pm), the club shop at the ground (from 6pm) and from sellers around the ground.
Tickets for the Scottish Cup final against Celtic on Saturday, 26th May go on sale today (Thursday).
Prices are £40 for the South Stand Lower (section P1); £35 South Stand Lower (sections P2/P6); £28 West Stand, while in the West Stand family area it’s adults £24, children £10.
Ticket priority until 12th May will be for club sponsors, shareholders, season ticket holders, lounge members, Pars online registrations, supporters clubs and ticket stub holders from the semi-final and the St Mirren match on Monday.
There’s a maximum of four per person and tickets can be bought from the ticket office at East End Park.
