Young says Jags tie is ‘must-win’ game

EMERGENCY right back Darren Young admitted the Pars have to beat Partick Thistle on Saturday to get their hopes of a swift return to the SPL back on track.

Speaking to Press Sport after Tuesday’s 4-1 extra time CIS Cup defeat to Hearts, Young said, “Every game is a must-win game. We’ve got to get points on board from every game to get back up to the SPL.

“I think Hamilton’s next three games are St Johnstone, Dundee then us so if they have a couple of draws we can claw back some points with a few wins but there’s no point counting your chickens until they’re hatched.

“We’ve a few players coming back so, fingers crossed, we can get back to winning ways.”

Young was excellent in an unaccustomed right back position at Tynecastle and said, “Before extra time the manager told us we’d got back in it and to go for it but five minutes later we were 4-1 down.

“It’s hard to take. It sounds like a doing but it was far from that.”
