'Sports Coach of the Year' awards
WEST FIFE'S top amateur coach will be recognised next year with a new award.
Dunfermline & West Fife Sports Council will present an award to the 'Sports Coach of the Year' at its annual awards ceremony in February.
The award will be presented to an individual coach who, through their endeavours in 2007, has contributed to the advancement of sporting excellence in their chosen sport.
A spokesman for the Sports Council said they were delighted to announce the establishment of a new annual award for coaches, donated by Sport Tayside and Fife.
The award is intended to raise the profile of coaching, reward coaches for their endeavours and publicise coaching as a developing profession.
The inaugural award for 2007 will be presented at the annual awards ceremony on Wednesday 6th February 2008 in the Glen Pavilion, Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline.
Application forms can be obtained from the Secretary, The Music Institute, Eastport, Dunfermline KY12 7JA.
Nominations are also sought for other awards, including Sports Personality of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, a Services to Sport award, Disabled Sports Personality of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Team of the Year and a Masters award.
Closing date for entries is Friday 9th November. Nominees must be resident within Dunfermline and West Fife or a member of a club currently affiliated to the sports council, except in the team awards, where 25 per cent of the team may be from outwith Fife. Candidates may be nominated for one category only. People who derive their livelihood from taking part in competitive sport are not eligible for nomination.
