Lori is Sharp on the Alps
A DUNFERMLINE officer has enjoyed success in a major army skiing competition in the French Alps.
Second Lieutenant Lori Sharp (23) was taking part in Exercise Pipedown, the skiing championships for British soldiers based in Germany, which is held in the French ski resort of Les Contamines Montjoie.
Former Queen Anne High School pupil Lori learned to ski with her university officer training corps and has already taken part in Territorial Army championships, infantry championships and logistic corps championships.
On Exercise Pipedown this year Lori was placed third in the female ratings for the individual slalom and runner-up in the female ratings for the individual super giant slalom.
Overall in the individual giant slalom Lori came 33rd out of 83; 30th in the team giant slalom and 39th in the individual slalom.
Lori, who grew up in Cairneyhill, is a command post operator with 26 Regiment Royal Artillery, an AS90 big gun unit based at Gutersloh in Germany.
“I’m shortly to re-role to work on lighter guns to serve in Afghanistan,” she said.
