Athletes fly the Saltire
A WEEK before Scotland’s rugby players take on the Welsh in Cardiff, Pitreavie athletes were flying the Saltire in the Celtic Cup Indoor International against hosts Wales, Ireland and a team from the University of Wales on Sunday.
Graeme Oudney competed in the 800m where he won the event ahead of UK international Jimmy Watkins in a time of 1:54.91.
Francis Smith competed as a guest over the 60m hurdles finishing runner-up to Commonwealth Games silver medallist Chris Bailey in a time of 8.22.
Both men then made up half of the Scottish 4x400m team that finished third in a time of 3:18.19.
On the same day two of Pitreavie’s junior athletes were in Cardiff representing the Scottish Schools under-16 men’s team in the Celtic Schools international.
Craig Robinson competed in the 800m and Anthony Young ran as a B string in the 200m coming second in a time of 23.61. Young also helped secure victory for the Scottish team in the 4 x 200m relay in a time of 1:34.01.
