KELTY HEARTS are hoping for cup success on three fronts after picking up four points out of six in their recent league games.
Tuesday night saw Stevie Leighton’s men come away with a 1-1 draw from the derby match at Hill of Beath Hawthorn, three days after beating Bathgate at home 2-1.
Goals from Graeme Findlay and a Murray McDowell penalty accounted for Bathgate, while on Tuesday, only a superb display from Haws keeper Mark Graham prevented the Jambos from picking up all three points.
Hearts found themselves a goal down after just three minutes but, despite being without the rested Ian Mauchlan, skipper Adam Moffat and Conrad Courts, came back to equalise through Davie Ross midway through the second half.
Now attention turns to the cup and a Redwood Cup semi-final clash against Super League champions-elect Lochee United on Monday.
Kelty also face a home quarter-final against Scottish Cup finalists Bathgate in the East of Scotland Cup and will play either Hill of Beath or Glenrothes in the semis of the local Maloco + associates Cup.
“They’re hard draws and if we are going to win things, it’s going to be really hard work,” Leighton told Press Sport.
“But we’ve done really well lately, we’ve played some of the big-hitters at home and we’ve beaten Bathgate and drawn with both Linlithgow and Bonnyrigg, although we should have beaten Bonnyrigg as they equalised in the seventh minute of injury time.”
Reflecting on the derby draw with Haws, Leighton said, “I felt we battered them but their keeper is the best in the league and he made several top drawer saves.”
Rosyth crashed out of the Maloco + associates Cup, losing 2-0 to Thornton Hibs in Monday’s semi-final.
