Knockhill gears up to remember fallen heroes at Scottish Classic Speedfair
KNOCKHILL Racing Circuit hosts the third Scottish Classic Speedfair on Sunday 8th June and the nostalgic event will also be a time to remember the sport’s fallen heroes.
There will be a special 40th anniversary tribute to Scotland’s greatest racing driver, Fife-born Jim Clark, who was killed in April 1968 while racing at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany.
The 1995 World Rally Championship winning Subaru of Colin McRae (left), who died last year, will take pride of place among the special exhibits.
David Leslie Snr will present the David Leslie Trophy in memory of his son who was killed in a plane crash on 30th March.
And as well as the Sir Jackie Stewart Trophy for Formula Ford single seater racing cars, with around 70 cars expected to enter, there will also be the first ever running of the Jimmy Stewart trophy, Sir Jackie’s late brother.
There’s also plenty of action to enjoy with a live action classic rally as well as displays of more than 400 classic cars, a 60 year celebration of Lotus, classic motorbikes and an aerobatic display.
Club Scotland & Scottish Elises will be putting on a superb gathering, display and track demos for the celebration of legendary British sports car manufacturer Lotus.
In addition, the Ferrari owner’s club will bring its two race series, the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic and the Pirelli Ferrari Open, to Scotland for the first time.
A number of important historic Ferraris will also be on show.
Speedfair is on from 10am to 5pm.
The track hosts its ‘Truckmania’ show on Sunday with entertainment for children and on track action complementing the trucks, cranes and giant earth-moving equipment on show from 11am until 5pm.
