KEEN to make his point is 15-year-old fencer Darren Brown.

The Dunfermline High School pupil has been identified as one of the UK’s best future sports stars in a new scheme which will net him a £500 grant to help cover the cost of competing in tournaments.

Darren, who has been selected to fence for Scotland in the British under-17 championships, dropped in to Asda’s Halbeath store last week to pick up his Asda Sporting Chance grant.

Asda, with the help of SportsAid, have compiled a list of the best emerging young talent in the UK and Darren was chosen to receive his grant for outstanding performances in fencing.

He and younger brother Scott gave a demonstration of the sport in the store’s foyer for store workers and shoppers.
