Dunfermline driver gears up for Knockhill with Touring Cars win
WEST FIFE race ace Gordon Shedden enjoyed the perfect build-up to next month’s ‘home’ touring cars round at Knockhill by making it a hat-trick of victories at Oulton Park on Sunday.
‘Flash’ as the Dalgety Bay driver has been dubbed by colleagues at Team Halfords, took victory in the final race at the Cheshire circuit to win there for the third year in a row.
Victory takes Shedden to seventh in the drivers’ points standings with Team Halfords third in the teams’ championship ahead of the Knockhill meeting on 16th and 17th August.
Shedden had to be content with a seventh and eighth-place finish in races one and two but was never troubled in the final race after taking the lead from tin top rookie Andrew Jordan to take his second chequered flag of the season.
Afterwards a delighted Shedden said, “It’s an amazing result to get the win.
“We had struggled a bit in the first two races but we worked hard to improve the car and it was amazing in the final race – it was a different animal.
“All credit to the guys at Team Halfords and to my engineer, Eddie, who came up with a masterplan for the third race which worked.
“For much of the day I thought it was going to be another one full of bad luck so to finish on a win is awesome.
“I made a good move on Andrew Jordan near the start and could control it from the front so to go away from here with a win ahead of my home round at Knockhill is a huge boost for the whole team.”
