Knights' charge halted by rain
DUNFERMLINE Knights’ hopes of moving to the top of the table were denied by the rain which fell on Saturday until 2.30pm.
The Knights worked hard to clear the water from the square but despite their efforts and the appearance of the sun shortly before 3pm the umpires decided the wicket surrounds were unplayable.
This was frustrating for the home side as news filtered through from Aberdeen that like McKane, the rain had stopped but that Stoneywood-Dyce were to play a 30-over game against Weirs. Weirs won by six wickets reducing Stoneywood’s lead over Dunfermline to five points.
This Saturday Dunfermline travel to Glasgow to face Weirs while Stoneywood are at Prestwick. A win for the Knights will ensure at least a play-off place but a win coupled with a win for Prestwick would put them in the automatic promotion place.
On Sunday, the Knights are again in Glasgow for the re-arranged national Twenty/20 finals being played at Poloc CC.
The second XI entertain Boroughmuir at McKane. A win for the home side would all but ensure promotion.
