Former Pars star Dolan dies at 39
FORMER Pars player Jamie Dolan died suddenly on Sunday night aged just 39.
It's been reported that the former midfielder suffered a heart attack while out running.
Dolan was signed along with Jason Dair by Dick Campbell in February 1999 as the Pars batted to stay in the SPL.
Athletic were relegated but he played the following season in the first division and went on to make a total of 33 appearances for the Pars.
Having made his name with Motherwell in the 1990s, Dolan joined Dundee United in January 1997 before switching to the Pars two years later. He was released by Jimmy Calderwood in 2000 and he joined Livingston and had spells at Forfar and Partick Thistle before hanging up his boots.
Several Pars fans have paid tribute to the player on messageboards on fans' site dafc.net, with one fan commenting, "Very upset to hear this, I really liked him as a player and it's tragic for that to happen at his age with such a young family as well."
He remained involved with football, having close links with Motherwell and managing juniors side Broxburn Athletic.
A statement on Motherwell's official website said, "Everyone at Motherwell Football Club would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to Jamie's family and friends at this sad time."
