Fife Southern go out of national cup
Crieff 19 Fife Southern 13
FIFE SOUTHERN proved they have what it takes to compete at a higher level despite their SHE National Cup defeat at Midlands division 1 side Crieff on Saturday.
Stuart Stevenson gave the visitors an early lead with a penalty but the home side then enjoyed their best period of the match, scoring two converted tries midway through the first half.
Southern were quick to respond with Daz Philps touching down under the posts to give Stevenson an easy conversion.
Despite there being no stoppages, the first half went on for 45 minutes and the Fifers felt aggrieved when Crieff snatched an unconverted try on the whistle for a 19-10 interval lead.
The Sharks continued to take the game to their opponents in the second half and Stevenson reduced the deficit with another penalty but they were unable to go in front.
