THE sight of former Scotland international defender Paul Ritchie (pictured) training with the Pars at Pitreavie recently has sparked rumours that he could be joining Athletic on a short-term deal.

But that’s all they are – rumours – according to boss Jim McIntyre, who told Press Sport, “There’s nothing at all on that one. He’s just doing a bit of training.”

McIntyre has said in the past that he might need to bring in extra cover at centre back for Scott Wilson, Scott Thomson and Greg Shields but won’t be bringing in Ritchie.

The 33-year-old Kirkcaldy-born defender, who won seven caps for Scotland, played with McIntyre at Dundee United, his last British club.

He had been coaching at Dundee and had asked McIntyre if he could train with the Pars to boost his fitness.
