Soul legend to appear at city's Carnegie Hall
SOUL guitar legend Steve Cropper will be appearing at the Carnegie Hall in August.
Steve Cropper is a guitarist, A & R man, engineer, producer and songwriting partner of Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd and a dozen others and founding member of both Booker T and the MG's and The Mar-Keys.
He was literally involved in virtually every record issued by Stax from 1961 to the end of 1970.
Such credits alone assure Cropper of an honoured place in the soul music hall of fame, but as co-writer of (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay, Knock on Wood and In the Midnight Hour, Cropper is in line for immortality in the world of music.
Theatre manager Evan Henderson gushed, "I'm really excited about this gig and as any music fan will tell you, it's no exaggeration to call Steve Cropper a legend, as he's played on and been involved with so many great records and artists.
"He's worked with the true greats of Soul music, there aren't too many who can lay claim to the sort of career he's had.
"Just to have been there when Dock of the Bay was conceived, never mind playing on it, would have been enough for me!"
Cropper will be appearing with The Animals and Friends on Tuesday, 26th August from 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced £17.50, are available from the box office on 602302.
