SUMMER kicks off at Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre on Saturday with legendary local band Nazareth’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

The band’s gig is the opening event in the “Alhambra in the Raw” series of shows.

The rockers will be followed by a classical performance on 14th June, when West Fifers will be given the chance to “Come and Sing” the Faure Requiem with a full orchestra.

There will be a rehearsal for the event on the day, from 1.30-5.30pm followed by a performance with orchestra at 7pm. For anyone wanting to become more familiar with the music in advance, there is an additional rehearsal on 12th June from 7.30-9.30pm.

The cost is £10 per person (£5 for schoolchildren). Those interested should e-mail info@alhambradunfermline.com, giving details of the part they will sing (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) and whether they will to attend the additional rehearsal.

Roy “Chubby” Brown will then take centre-stage on 3rd July and Fife singer and songwriter KT Tunstall will perform a homecoming set at the Alhambra on 10th July, just a day ahead of her main stage performance at T in the Park. Tickets have already sold out for her show, which will come straight off the back of her European and American “Drastic Fantastic” tour.

Tickets for Nazareth and Roy “Chubby” Brown’s gigs are available online at www.ticketweb.co.uk and www.ticketmaster.co.uk respectively. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 08444 771000 or at the tourist information centre in Dunfermline High Street.

* The son of Pete Agnew will have his own concert filmed at the Alhambra this weekend when rock legends Nazareth also play the theatre.

Stevie, who is supporting his father’s group Nazareth, will be filmed by Dunfermline-based film group, Talisman Films Scotland.

He asked the company to film his session after hearing they had made DVDs for Dunfermline groups The Falcons and Lights Out By Nine.
