BBC wildlife cameraman to help preview Dunfermline Carnegie Festival
DUNFERMLINE'S own pole star Doug Allan – the ace wildlife cameraman who has won worldwide acclaim for his work on prize-winning documentaries like ‘The Blue Planet’ and ‘Planet Earth’ – will put the icing on the cake of the upcoming Carnegie Festival when he raises the curtain on the festival’s film strand on 8th August.
Organisers of the first Carnegie Festival will this month take the wraps off a programme encompassing film, politics, innovation and enterprise as a celebration of the continuing legacies of steel king-turned-philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie.
Doug Allan and wife, Sue Flood, a wildlife documentary producer and photographer in her own right, will preview the Carnegie Film Festival with a “Behind the Scenes” glimpse into such wildlife blockbusters as the BBC/Discovery series, “Planet Earth.”
The award-winning series took them from the Arctic and Antarctic to the South Pacific…from freezing in -40C in the Arctic winter to snorkelling in warm tropical waters.
Doug told the Press, “While wildlife filming has given me fantastic chances to travel the world, Dunfermline is still where I have my roots.
"Sue and I will show just how we film the sequences for the big series like ‘Planet Earth.’
"It should appeal to the whole family, so we look forward to seeing you all on the night.”
Booking details for all festival events will be published in the Press special launch preview later this month.
The festival, whose dedicated website – www.carnegiefestival.com – will be launched in mid-July, is being organised by the Carnegie UK and Dunfermline Trusts and Carnegie College, in partnership with Fife Council and corporate sponsors.
The organisers have joined forces with the Scottish Parliament’s Festival of Politics and the Edinburgh International Science Festival in compiling its first programme which will run from 21st August to 7th September.
