International opera sensation Hayley Westenra set for sell-out Dunfermline concert
THE biggest-selling classical artist of the 21st century heads to Dunfermline in October to play what is set to be a sell-out concert at Carnegie Hall.
International opera sensation Hayley Westenra has sold over four million albums worldwide and performed for queens, presidents, prime ministers and the Dalai Lama.
She sang duets with Jose Carreras, Bryn Terfel and Andrea Bocelli, toured with Il Divo and performed at the FA Cup final and the Champions League – and is still just 21.
As part of her River of Dreams tour, Hayley will be at the Carnegie Hall on Monday 20th October with a 7.30pm start and tickets priced at £27.50.
The New Zealander’s first album was five years ago and is one of the fastest selling classical albums in the history of the UK charts.
Her film and TV work includes the theme for Al Pacino’s Merchant of Venice, two films for Disney and the theme and soundtrack from BBC’s ‘Jekyll’.
Hayley is also the youngest Unicef ambassador in the world and is a patron of several charities.
On the back of securing another big-name act – Billy Ocean also plays in Dunfermline in October – the Carnegie Hall’s Bill Mair was delighted with the booking.
“This is wonderful news for us,” he enthused.
“Hayley’s a big name with a very wide range, from opera to popular music and even some folk-ish songs, and I’m sure she’ll be very popular with our patrons.
“The tickets are a great price too and there’s no booking fee so I predict an early sell-out.”
