TOP Frank Sinatra tribute artist Stephen Triffitt will be in the lead role of the new musical ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes and Friends - Live on TV’ when the world premiere is staged at the Alhambra.

It’s also been announced that Darren Bennett will play the part of the legendary Gene Kelly when the show makes its debut in Dunfermline.

The theatre management said they were delighted that the Alhambra had been chosen to host such a prestigious event and are set to roll out the red carpet for the stars on 4th November.

Given the enduring popularity of Sinatra songs, the musical would appear to be on to a winner, especially with the setting of a TV special bringing the added attractions of ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ star Kelly, Judy Garland singing ‘Over the Rainbow’ and Doris Day with ‘Que Sera Sera’.

Other evergreen numbers featuring in the show include ‘My Way’, ‘New York, New York’, ‘Luck Be A Lady’ and ‘One For My Baby’.

As a popular runner-up in ‘Stars in their Eyes’ final of 2000, Stephen is a now big draw when celebrities plan their special occasions.

He has appeared for the Beckhams at their sons’ glitzy christening and sang with Bob Geldof at his 50th birthday party.

He also provided the entertainment at Simon Cowell’s 50th and the pop mogul’s mum’s 80th birthday bash.

Alhambra Theatre manager Simon Fletcher said, “It’s fantastic that Ol’ Blue Eyes is premiering at the theatre.

“It is a great opportunity for the people of Fife and beyond to be the first to enjoy a show which is likely to be talked about for years to come.” The show will run from Thursday 4th November to the Saturday when there will be two performances.
