DUNFERMLINE is set to be rocking to the beat of the local music scene tomorrow (Saturday) when Weekend Revolution takes centre stage.

The massively popular one-day extravaganza, which was previously known as Dunfermline Live, will see 20 of West Fife’s finest bands wow the crowds, including headliners The Draymin, who after 10 years will bring the curtain down on their rock and roll journey.

The Rosyth group are just one of the many star attractions that will perform throughout at PJ Molloys, The Old Inn and Lourenzos, with ForeignFox, Modern Faces, The Mona Lisa’s, Oskar and Moonlight Zoo amongst those on the bill.

Kicking off at 1.30pm with Cherry Diesel in PJs, an expected audience of 1000 fans can enjoy live music all the way through until the wee small hours as ForeignFox bring the event to a close at 1am. Organiser Calum Miller said: “Everything is going really well and we are halfway there with ticket sales. There’s always a massive push towards the day itself so we’re expecting a sell-out of 1000, which would be great.

“It was a really good festival last year and I don’t think any local band that we approached said no, which shows they are embracing the mentality of the event. It’s really cool because we work with a lot of these bands all year round, so Weekend Revolution is a big celebration of that and a thanks to them for working with us.

“People will come from out of town and that in turn gives a boost to the local economy as they will stay in hotels, eat in restaurants and spend money in the shops.

“It’s a good thing for Dunfermline and we’re delighted to be able to put it on again this year.”

Last year’s sold out event was headlined by Embrace and Craig Penman, of The Draymin, said: “Calum asked us to headline and it makes sense as it’s a good way to go out. It’s a great way to get local bands together and we’re putting everything we’ve got into it.”

One band who won’t be involved in this year’s Weekend Revolution are Wishaw five-piece the Vigo Thieves.

The group, whose status as one of the hottest emerging Scottish bands was enhanced when they teamed up with the Scottish Football Association to launch an official anthem for the national team’s Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, were originally pencilled in to play but an illness to one of the band members means they cannot attend.

Tickets are available on the day for £15 from the box office at Lourenzos, which is open from midday, and the event is open to over-16s until midnight, when it is for over-18s until 2am.
