TALENTED Dunfermline band Moonlight Zoo are gearing up for their biggest gig so far when they perform at the prestigious Isle of Wight Festival this weekend.

The four-piece – Jamie Adamson, Reece Dobbin, Sean Defrancesco and Graeme McLeod – will take to the Jack Rocks This Feeling stage, which features exciting breakthrough acts, on Sunday ahead of what is set to be a big summer for them.

Their slot came on the back of winning the Make Your Mark music competition at PJ Molloys, with support from the Mary Leishman Foundation and the release of their latest single Breaking or Broken, which has won widespread acclaim.

Bands playing on the main stage include Stereophonics, The Who, Queen and Ocean Colour Scene, while the likes of John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and the Manic Street Preachers have all performed at the event in the past.

Speaking to Press:ON, Jamie said: “It is absolutely great, especially as it’s our first gig down south as well.

“It was part of the prize for winning Make Your Mark. Calum (Miller, of PJ Molloys) made things happen and we have a good relationship with This Feeling after doing a couple of gigs with them and had a good response. We’re really excited and it is going to be a big step up.

“This will be the biggest gig so far for us and the main thing is that we’d like to be seen as that calibre of band, a festival band.

“I think we’ll only start to get nervous around half an hour before we go on stage but once we pick up our guitars and drumsticks, we’ll go back into our own comfort zone where it all happens organically. There’s a couple of other bands on stage we’re looking forward to seeing, and Stereophonics and The Who, so we’re really looking forward to it.”

After the Isle of Wight Festival, Moonlight Zoo will play a headline show in Edinburgh on June 18 and are hopeful of releasing another single by late summer.

Jamie continued: “The response to our latest single was incredible and we were blown away, so we’re hoping that our next single will have a bigger impact. We’re looking forward to a little time in July to concentrate on the writing and creative side. Apart from that, we’ve got gigs all the time!”

Moonlight Zoo are on stage at 12.10pm on Sunday.
