RBS CUSTOMERS in Inverkeithing will have to find alternative branches to do their banking in after the announcement that the High Street branch is set to close in January.

The bank said the “difficult decision” has come as a result of transactions falling by 28% over the past few years, with only 35 customers regularly using the branch on a weekly basis.

After the branch closes on 20th January 2015, the nearest RBS for customers in Inverkeithing will be 2.2 miles away in Dalgety Bay, with the Dunfermline branch another alternative within three miles.

The ATM will remain so that customers can continue to withdraw money, and the bank has come to an arrangement with the Post Office so that customers can withdraw cash, check balances and make deposits free of charge. In the coming months businesses will also be able to get coinage.

The bank is writing to its customers to make them aware of the closure and is inviting them to go into the branch where staff will be happy to discuss the alternative ways to bank with them.
