PLANS to turn the former Hillpark House in Dunfermline into a block of flats have been put on hold for a site visit.
Developers McCallan homes lodged an application for two blocks of flats, two-and-a-half storeys tall, and 20 car-parking spaces at the Townhill Road location. The proposal was considered at last week's west planning committee but the decision was put on hold after councillors agreed to a site visit.
The historic Victorian house was demolished earlier this year, prompting concerned residents to begin a campaign to save the site from over-development.
The McCallan homes development has been branded "entirely out-of-keeping" by neighbours and Bellyeoman Community Council and in total, there have been more than 80 individual objections.
A residents' group, consisting of people from Townhill Road, Methven Drive, Christie Street and Bellyeoman Road, is of the view that any development should be sympathetic and in-keeping with the surrounding homes, which are either single-storey bungalows or two-storey villas.
They are gravely concerned with the proposed height, scale, mass and type of construction method to be used, as well as the number of cars the development will impose on the surrounding area.
