DUNFERMLINE'S Balmule House has been shortlisted among some of the top boutique hotels in the UK in the running for a prestigious Hilden Style Award.

Located on a sprawling 33-acre estate just north of Townhill, Balmule has been in existence for around 500 years, its origins stretching back to the 15th century. Since then, it has been owned by the likes of Big Country frontman Stuart Adamson and these days is a four-star hotel offering a unique experience to visitors from all over the world. Earlier this year it even played host to the film set of a new production of A Christmas Carol, where one of the rooms boasted Scrooge's grand office.

The Hilden Style Awards celebrate unique style and interior design for independent hospitality establishments and Balmule House has been nominated in the 'Stylish Bathroom' category. With a record number of entries, this years judges, including Rod Nutter, commercial director at Hilden.co.uk and Anne Britton, executive housekeeper of the Jumeriah Carlton Tower Hotel London, said they had their work cut out to narrow it down to just three per category.

The winners of the awards will be decided at the judges’ lunch on October 12, at The Fable, London, one of last year’s Hilden Style Awards winners.
