A DALGETY Bay cancer campaigner will be dressed to kilt to raise funds and awareness for charity Breast Cancer Now.

In a well-plaid move, Lawrence Cowan will don a specially-made pink kilt every day in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in a bid to raise £1000 for groundbreaking cancer research.

Kilt-maker to the stars Howie Nicholsby, of 21st Century Kilts in Edinburgh, designed and donated the striking garment.

Lawrence, who is Breast Cancer Now's charity's policy and campaigns manager, will invite those who spot him to take a pic with the kilt, share it on social media, and donate to the charity.

He said, “Right now breast cancer is at a tipping point. More women are surviving. But more are being diagnosed than ever before.

“As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I want to take to the streets and do my part to raise awareness of this awful disease while generating as much money as possible to stop women dying from breast cancer.

“The generosity of the team at 21st Century Kilts has been amazing and the kilt looks fantastic.

“For the month of October I'll be wearing the pink kilt every day – at every meeting, every conference and every weekend.

“My target is to raise £1,000 for Breast Cancer Now, that’s £1 for every woman who dies from the disease each year in Scotland.

“So if you spot me then please do lend your support by taking a picture, sharing it on social media and making a donation.”

Howie Nicholsby, who has dressed the likes of Madonna, Robbie Williams, Vin Diesel and Sir Richard Branson, was “delighted” to create the kilt.

He said, “I’ve styled many well-known faces but making this kilt to help fund cutting-edge research is pretty special.

“I hope that the Breast Cancer Now kilt will help to remind people that breast cancer is not a done deal and that women are still dying from this disease.

“Everyone knows someone affected by breast cancer so it’s crucial that people continue to support research and help save lives.”
