WEST FIFE rail passengers have been asked to help identify six "rowdy" men who racially abused a woman on a train to Fife on Saturday night.

British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information following the incident, which took place on the 22.08 service from Edinburgh Waverley to Dundee.

The group are reported to have been shouting, swearing and banging the tables on the train and after the woman asked them to be quiet during the journey, she was racically abused. The men alighted from the train when it arrived in Kirkcaldy.

One of the men is described as being about 6ft in height, medium build, aged in his late teens or 20s with short light brown hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, green trousers and white training shoes. Another man is described as about 6ft in height, medium build, aged about 30 years. He had dark, but balding, hair and was wearing a shirt. There is no descriptions of the other men available.

CCTV footage from the train and stations will be reviewed in an attempt to identify those responsible.

Meanwhile, Constable Jan Langer, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for anyone who was on the train and has information which can assist enquiries to contact BTP.
