WEST Fifers looking to give a unique present this Christmas should visit Fire Station Creative’s latest exhibition, which starts today (Friday).

More than 40 artworks will be on display at PRINT 15, an exhibition of handmade original prints showcasing a variety of different methods, including etching, linocuts and screen printing as well as hand-finishing techniques such as gold leaf, collage and drawing.

Artist Stephen Ratomski, chairman of the Fife Dunfermline Printmakers Workshop, said: “Dunfermline has needed a space like this for a long time.

“We are absolutely delighted to be among the first artists to have the opportunity to showcase our work in this stylish and contemporary art space.

“It really complements our artwork and provides a very welcoming environment for visitors to browse and buy contemporary art.”

All the work is printed by the artists themselves and takes several days, if not weeks, to produce.

Stephen added: “Printmaking is an art form that is now widely appreciated by art buyers.

“It’s usually very affordable and most well-known painters include printmaking in their portfolio of work.

“Several of our members also have studios at Fire Station Creative because they paint as well as print.”

PRINT 15 runs from tomorrow until January 10. Opening times are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am to 4pm.

Fire Station Creative is also holding its Open Studios Weekend until Sunday, offering visitors a look behind the scenes.

Arbikie Distillery will be serving their premium gin at the bar tomorrow night, and there will be tapas-style snacks available.

The Real Hot Chocolate Company will launch their range of artisan hot chocolates, and a pop-up florist will be setting up shop.

The Open Studios will be held from 6pm-9pm tomorrow, 10am-5pm on Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday.
