WEST Fifers lined the streets to kick off the festive season at Saturday’s Dunfermline Christmas lights switch-on.
The parade saw Father Christmas riding down the High Street before flicking the switch at the Glen Gates.
A full day of events included a Christmas market, live music, a radio roadshow, food and drink stalls and funfair rides.
Shoppers were entertained by the Opus 8 singers in The Hub and by the Woodmill Singers in the Kingsgate Centre, and there was also music by tribute act One and Only Direction and Wishy-Washy from the Alhambra’s Aladdin panto.
Dunfermline Pipe Band led the parade, joined by Fife Provost Jim Leishman, colourful pantomime characters, members of the Limelight Theatre, the Robertson Dance Academy, the Alhambra Stage School, sports cars provided by Knockhill, fancy dress participants from the Little Shops of Heroes, and stilt-walkers.
Organisers Dunfermline Delivers were delighted. Manager Lisa Edwards said: “I was really happy to see the people of Dunfermline come along with their family and friends to celebrate the beginning of this festive season."
