DUNFERMLINE MSP Cara Hilton has been disappointed by the Scottish education secretary’s “apathy” after asking her to back Fife College’s move to the town centre.
Speaking in Holyrood last week, Ms Hilton asked Angela Constance to agree that locating to a new campus in the heart of Dunfermline was a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” which would “inject real vibrancy into the town centre” and boost the High Street and local businesses.
Ms Constance replied that town-centre locations were not always possible, but said that transparency of process was absolutely crucial.
She added: “I am sure that the college will continue to give careful thought to the location of the campus as it develops the business case.”
The response proved “disappointing” for Ms Hilton, who said the attitude appeared to be one of apathy and added: “It’s more important now than ever to sign my petition and show the strength of feeling we have for bringing the college into our valued town centre.”
