POLICE in West Fife will next week roll out another initiative to catch people with outstanding warrants.

From Monday, December 7 to Thursday, December 10, teams of officers will be working to locate and arrest people from across the Dunfermline and West Fife area who are the subject of a warrant. Extra staff are being dedicated to the initiative and police are advising those affected to hand themselves in before the scheme gets underway.

A similar project in October saw 34 people arrested in the space of five days as the local community investigation team joined forces with the flexible policing unit to target outstanding warrants dealing with violent crimes and other high-priority offences.

Warrants are typically issued where an accused person has failed to attend court and the initiative was described by the police as part of a wider crack-down on violence in Dunfermline’s town centre.
