HGVs are to be allowed back on the Forth Road Bridge from tonight (Thursday) it has been announced.
Transport Minister Derek Mackay is currently briefing the media in South Queensferry.
It will be a phased reintroduction, with 600 allowed to cross northbound between 11pm and 4am nightly.
This is following the first phase of repairs after the bridge was closed to all traffic for 19 days in December when a 20mm crack was found in a truss under the southbound carriageway.
When phase two of the repairs is completed, the bridge will reopen fully to HGVs. This is expected to be in mid-March.
