IRISH funnyman Ardal O'Hanlon will be bringing the laughter to Dunfermline for the That's Fife Comedy Festival.

The Father Ted star will join a host of star names, including Ed Byrne, Nina Conti, Tom Stade and Dorothy Paul, who will be gracing stages in the Kingdom from April 1 to 30.

The stunning month-long programme was unveiled by stand-up legend Fred MacAulay and Rosyth's finest physicist turned comedy magician, Kevin McMahon, who will both be performing.

The side-splitting festival will also include "anarchic" cookery and magic, classic comedy film screenings, a stage homage to Morecambe and Wise, a comedy competition for kids and photo exhibitions.

After only two years, That's Fife has established itself on the UK's comedy calendar and they've now joined forces with the Gilded Balloon, who have been bringing comedy acts to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for more than 30 years.

It's the most expansive programme yet with events at Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, Rothes Halls in Glenrothes, the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy and The Byre Theatre in St Andrews.

In Dunfermline, the fun kicks off on Saturday April 2 with comedy from Al Porter, Stuart Mitchell, Andrea Hubert and Scott Gibson.

Kevin McMahon brings his Quantum Magic show to the Carnegie Hall stage on Sunday April 10 with 'anarchist cook' George Egg on Saturday April 16.

Ardal O'Hanlon, with support from Michael Redmond, will bring his unique brand of humour to the town on Friday April 22 and Eric and Ern, a tribute to comedy greats Morecambe and Wise, is on Saturday April 30.

Other highlights across Fife include An Audience with Dorothy Paul in Glenrothes on April 1, Fred MacAulay in St Andrews and Tom Stade in Kirkcaldy, both on April 13, and in Glenrothes there's Nina Conti on April 16 and Ed Byrne's 'Outside, Looking in' show on April 27.

Karen Koren, artistic director of the Gilded Balloon, said: “Gilded Balloon are delighted to be bringing That’s Fife Comedy Festival to the Kingdom!

"We have a long association with Fife and are thrilled to be bringing some spectacular entertainment to a host of wonderful venues across the region.”
