BLAIRHALL schoolgirl Hannah Fielding had her heart’s desire granted over Valentine’s Day weekend as she was named the village’s gala queen for 2016.

West Fife Villages councillor Bobby Clelland picked the names of this year’s royal party out of a hat at Blairhall Community Centre and Hannah, 11, will now preside over the gala on July 2.

She will be joined by princesses Milly McKenzie, seven, and Madison Maxwell, eight, and page boys Curtis Nowrie, seven and Riley Lawson, eight.

Mags Lawrie, chair of Blairhall Children’s Amenities Fund, which organises the gala, said: “The kids were absolutely over the moon and really excited.

“They were all sitting there with their fingers crossed and there was a lot of squealing and screaming as the names were picked – the two boys are already speaking about what colour kilts they’re going to wear.

“The gala is always a good day out and we hope locals and villagers can support us again with the fundraising towards the gala. Our next event is a race night on May 7.”
