TOUCH Primary pupils kept their eyes on the ball to win a set of new Co-operative Funeralcare football strips for their school in a Dunfermline Athletic competition.

The competition, run by the Pars' schools engagement team, attracted more than 100 entries from 20 schools in West Fife.

Pupils flexed their creative muscles by designing a new club badge, suggesting healthy menus for players, as well as writing short stories about playing for the Pars.

Many entrants went to great lengths to make their entries as professional as possible, even creating PowerPoint presentations and videos.

Touch emerged winners, and were presented with a full set of football strips – in navy and pale blue, to match the school's colours – at half-time at the Pars v Stenhousemuir match last month.

Teacher Dean Black said: “We’re delighted that our pupils were the ones to clinch the title for this competition.

“I know the children worked incredibly hard with their entries, and were thrilled to be presented with their prize, in front of so many people at half-time.

“The new football strips will take pride of place amongst our kit, and I’m sure our students will wear them with enthusiasm. I’d also like to say well done to all the other children who participated.”

Kenny McLachlan, principal funeral director at Co-operative Funeralcare, said: “We’d like to say congratulations to everyone who took part in this hugely popular competition, as we were all very impressed with the high standard of entries.

“The imagination, language and IT skills displayed by all pupils involved was outstanding, so while there’s always disappointment among those who didn’t win, we do hope they enjoyed the creative learning process.”
