POLICE in Fife are investigating a series of thefts from Ford Transit vans that occurred between Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th May.

Transit vans were targeted in the Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline areas of Fife where a number of high value tools and machinery were stolen.

The culprits are suspected to have gained entry to the secured vans by means of a device that can override the locking mechanisms.

Owners of similar vehicles are advised to ensure that they do not leave any items of value within their vehicles and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh, of the Criminal Investigation Department, said: "We are investigating a number of similar incidents throughout Fife where Ford Transit vans have been targeted.

“These vans were secure, however the persons responsible appear to have used some form of device that allows them to gain access to the vans without causing damage, before stealing work tools and machinery.

"Three males were seen acting suspiciously in the Johnstone Park area of Cowdenbeath during the early hours of Tuesday 10th May. These individuals made off in a white Ford Transit pick-up style van.

“We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, however, I would appeal to anyone who observes any suspicious activity to contact police via 101 or anonymously via Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
