RUBBISH collection in Fife saw a world first this week with the arrival of a special duel-fuel bin lorry.
Groundbreaking technology has been used to convert two of Fife Council's bin lorries to run on hydrogen and diesel.
The new lorries will deliver reduced carbon emissions and therefore improve air quality for communities.
They are the latest additions to what Fife Council hope will be one of Europe's largest fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Depute leader and executive spokesperson for economy and planning, Councillor Lesley Laird, welcomed the vehicles. "Fife's leading the way in clean energy," she said. "We believe these bin lorries are the first of their kind in the world."
