Police have arrested and charged a teenage boy following vandalism at a 12th century medieval church in Dalgety Bay.
Serious damage was caused to the stonework of St Bridget's Kirk on March 24 and a 15-year-old will be reported to the Children’s Reporter.
Inspector Tom Barrett, of Dalgety Bay police station, said: "I want to thank the local community for their patience and support while we conducted our inquiries.
"Please be assured that we’ll continue to work closely with Historic Environment Scotland to preserve the beauty of this local landmark."
A spokesperson for Historic Environment Scotland said: “We know that the community highly value their local heritage and recognise the importance of this ancient monument, and we would like to thank them, and Police Scotland, for their vigilance.
“Their involvement helps to ensure that this nationally significant monument will be protected for future generations to enjoy for years to come.”
Now an ancient ruin, St Bridget’s Kirk was built in the 1100s and remained a place of worship for 700 years.
