PARKOUR, zorbing, music and pony rides are among the fun activities that await at the Fresh Air Festival this weekend.

Final preparations are under way for the free event at Dunfermline Public Park, which will be held on Saturday between midday and 5pm.

Now in its fourth year, the festival promises something for everyone, from sports to music to kids' entertainment.

There will be parkour, rugby, football, tennis, keep fit, US football, birds of prey, face-painting, tattoos, balloons, magic, ice cream, fire engines, airplanes, wood sculptures, cars – and, organisers hope, the return of sunshine.

New for this year are tasters for self-defence and tai chi, and there will be story-teller who will take visitors around School Wood to meet with the 'wood shaman'. All the sports tasters are free.

Speed freaks are reminded that there will be a competition at the skate-park for skates, boards, bikes and scooters; turn up at noon at register.

A traders' tent will offer arts and crafts, and local projects and charities will be in attendance, including Headroom, Blueprint, Greenspace, APaws, and the community job club.

Music in the bandstand is a very eclectic mix this year and starts with Dunfermline Pipe Band opening the event. Sambangra , Dunfermline Rock and Pop choir and Johnstown Flood are not to be missed, and visitors will enjoying whiling away the afternoon with a selection of the town's most promising talented young artists.

Canvas Holidays and Inflatable Hire Scotland are supporting the festival this year and also providing a number of activities on the day including kids' zorbing, archery, bouncy castles and laser clay shooting.

Adding to the fun are pony rides, face-painting, tattoos, balloon sculptures, and adult archery/shooting, as well as great raffle prizes and give-aways.

Organiser Jim Stewart said: “We want as many people to come along as possible and enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the Public Park, and this should ensure a big turnout and bring the day’s events to a great conclusion.”
