PROPOSALS to manage flood risk across the Kingdom have been given the thumbs up by Fife Council.
Councillors on the executive committee met last week to approve 'Local Flood Risk Management Plans', which aim to deliver 16 flood protection studies, nine surface water management plans and two natural flood management studies by 2022.
Councillor Pat Callaghan, executive spokesperson for environment and transportation, added: "Individuals are the first line of defence when it comes to protecting themselves and their properties from flooding.
"These plans identify areas in Fife with a flood risk and how the risk can be reduced by working with other agencies, and interested communities, in Fife.
"We now need to implement these plans, which will bring real benefits throughout Fife."
