A KELTY man who brandished a knife, threatened violence and spat on a police officer has been jailed.
Kerr McCarron, 24, of 40 Keltyhill Avenue, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday charged with three offences committed at his address on June 4.
He admitted that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted, swore, brandished a knife and repeatedly threatened violence.
He also admitted assaulting two police constables, then in the execution of their duty, acting in an aggressive manner and struggling violently with them; and assaulting one of the officers and spitting on his face.
Solicitor Elaine Buist said McCarron's first experience of custody had “come as a bit of a shock to him”.
She explained that he had been remanded for 22 days, adding: “He has managed to get himself off alcohol while in custody and is keen to move forward.
“He suffers from anxiety and depression and is deemed unsuitable for unpaid work.”
Sheriff Craig McSherry slammed McCarron for “spitting directly in the face of a police officer” and jailed him for eight months, backdated to June 7.
