FIFE COUNCIL says bin collections are not yet back to normal following vehicle breakdowns earlier this week.

The authority issued a statement earlier this afternoon, advising householders whose bins had not been lifted.

It read: "Due to vehicle breakdowns we are experiencing delays in emptying some bins. Although we have reduced the number of bins that have not been collected we have not yet been able to return to normal service.

"If we have missed your scheduled collection on a Friday, we will still try to organise your bin’s collection on the Saturday but this may not always be possible.

"If we have not emptied it by 5pm on the Saturday and you are worried that it might be vandalised, then please bring it back in and put it back out before 6am the following Monday.

"We apologise for any inconvenience and we'll prioritise those missed bins for collection as early as possible the next day."
