DUNFERMLINE'S Glen Pavilion was packed as hundreds of mourners turned up to pay their respects to tragic Crossgates biker Zak Watson on Saturday.

Family, friends and fellow bikers came from across the UK and Europe for the funeral of Blue Angels motorcyclist Zak, 31, who sadly died after a collision with a Ford Transit van on the A907 at Bogside on July 14.

In April, the Press brought you the story of how Zak and wife Michelle, 33, tied the knot at Dunfermline City Chambers to the roar of 50 motorcycles, as fellow bikers turned up to help celebrate their big day.

The bikers paid similar tribute by forming a guard of honour at Pittencrieff Park and Dunfermline Cemetery as a mark of respect to Zak, whose coffin was also draped with a Blue Angels flag.

Family friend Antony White knew Zak through the Blue Angels and had come up from Haworth, Yorkshire, to say his last goodbye.

He told the Press: “The staff at the Glen Pavilion said the capacity was about 500-600 and we estimated there must have been 1,000 people there.

“The Glen Pavilion was just packed out. There were different chapters of the Blue Angels from Spain and Belgium there and the surrounding area was totally jammed up to the car park.

“Zak was such a popular guy – some of the big guys were sat there in tears and there are plans for memorials at different chapters of the Blue Angels.

“A big thank-you on behalf of the family. They were completely overwhelmed by the support.”

The accident occurred around 7.05pm on Thursday, July 14, west of Devilla Quarry.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the road was shut for around five-and-a-half hours while road police officers carried out investigations.
