A BRAVE dad is going all out to raise money for charity as he braves a 165 feet drop, body modification and a razor to his hair.

Chris Paterson, 30, works as a mechanic at Broomhead Garage in Dunfermline, and he will abseil off the Forth Bridge on Sunday October 9 for Down’s Syndrome Scotland, after his eight-year-old daughter Casey was born with the condition.

He pledged if he raised more than double his £175 target he would get the charity’s logo tattooed on him, and if £100 on top of that was raised, he would have his head shaved too.

Chris has completed one of his promises, as he got his tattoo on Wednesday at Studio 9 in Grangemouth, who generously never charged him, to support the charity.

He said: “I’m getting a wee bit nervous as the abseil gets closer each day, it's starting to kick in how soon it is.

With three targets already met, Chris is feeling the pressure of trying to organise another fundraising idea.

He added: “I’m 30 now and starting to go bald!

“I might need to wax my eyebrows or something like that now, but then I’d have to face the public on a daily basis!”

Kirsty Rennie, his partner, said: “Chris is the most loving and caring dad who just adores his daughter.

“He would do anything for her as she is his number one girl.

“Casey is the most lovable little girl with a gorgeous big smile and everyone who meets her just loves her.”

In the past Chris organised a motor enthusiasts meet to raise money for the charity, but now he’s going that extra step further.

Kirsty said: “Chris feels now is the time to do something bigger.

“Although it’s always something he’s wanted to do, it is quite daunting to abseil from such a height for the first time.

“It’s all worth while for such an amazing charity who provide help and support to families and individuals living with Down’s Syndrome.”

She echoed Chris’ hair concerns, and said: “The head shave alone is a big thing for Chris as he’s trying to hold on to what hair he has left!”
