STAFF at Forth Bay Care Home in Kincardine are celebrating after scooping a clutch of gongs at the Caring Homes' Scottish Recognition Awards.

Deputy manager Angela Baird was named Nurse of the Year, while care assistant Chloe McNally was the joint winner of the Care Newcomer of the Year.

Angela was nominated for her dedicated and professional attitude, ability to lead by example and inspire others, as well as her effective and outstanding nursing practice, and Chloe – who only joined the company 10 months ago – for her positive impact on the home.

The awards celebrate excellence among Caring Homes' seven Scottish homes, and also honoured

activities coordinator Diane Buchanan and home manager Fiona Day, who were runners-up in the Meaningful Activities and Management and Leadership categories respectively.

Fiona said: “Angela really deserves Nurse of the Year award because she has done such a great job for us and our residents.

“Chloe is just a ray of sunshine – one of our youngest team members, who has taken to caring like a duck to water.

“Equally, Diane keeps the home within the community and we’d be lost without her.”

In addition, seven team members at Forth Bay were awarded long service certificates and vouchers for their contribution to the success of the home.

They were housekeeper Christine Horne, 20 years; charge nurse Mandy Trotter, 17 years; domestic assistants Jan Davis and Annie Hoxley, 16 years; care assistants Anne Harrower and Caroline Thompson, 16 years; and staff nurse Hazel Ward, 15 years.
