Elgin Street in Dunfermline has been closed because of works to strengthen and paint the railway bridge.
The main engineering work will happen this weekend and services between Inverkeithing and Dunfermline will be impacted during Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September.
The works to the bridge are being carried out by Network Rail, with the road closed off just after the access to the Elgin Industrial Estate.
A ScotRail Alliance spokeswoman said: “Preparatory work has been ongoing since 15 August and a full road closure is expected to remain in place until Friday 22 October while we complete this vital work."
Further information can be found on scotrail.co.uk.
Members of the public who have any questions or concerns about the improvement works should contact Network Rail’s 24-hour helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
