FIFERS are being reminded that GP practices will be closed for the October Public Holiday.

The practices will be shut on Monday October 3 and will reopen on Tuesday October 4.

The NHS are encouraging people to check their medicine cabinet and restock if necessary.

Those who take regular medication are urged to check their existing supplies and only order what they need to make sure they don’t run out over the holidays.

If you do run out of your regular medication and your GP practice is closed, a pharmacist can provide advice and help to arrange a supply of medication if needed.

A selection of pharmacies will be open on October 3, including inside Asda at Halbeath Retail Park in Dunfermline from 9.00am to 9.00pm, and within Boots in the Kingsgate Centre from 8.30am to 5.30pm

A full list of pharmacies open on the October Public Holiday is available online at: www.nhsfife.org/publicholidays

If you are unwell when your GP practice is closed and it can’t wait until the practice reopens you should call NHS 24 on 111.
