A bin lorry has been seized by police in connection with the disappearance of local RAF man Corrie McKeague.

Signals from his mobile phone show that his phone was moved between Bury St Edmunds and Barton Mills on the morning of his disappearance and are connected to the lorries' collection route.

Corrie, 23, who is from Dunfermline, has not been seen for nine days after a night out with friends in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

The phone doesn't seem to have moved after last Saturday morning and has not been found.

Police are looking at what happened but are exploring the possibility that the phone may have been lost or discarded as the timings of the movement has been found to coincide with that of a bin lorry that is known to have travelled between the locations at the time.

The weight of the pick-up has been analysed at it appears the weight of the load was under 15kg – so it is not thought that Corrie was with the phone, however searches are being carried out between Bury and Barton Mills.

His mum, Nicola Urquhart, also made a public plea today for anyone who has seen her "good-looking" son to contact the police.

She said: "Someone must have seen him in his pink shirt and white trousers, making him easily identifiable.

"We would just like our son to come home now."

Kim Warner, Temporary Superintendent, said: "Corrie is a very fit and healthy young man, who is very close to his mother, brothers and friends.

"It is very unlike him not to contact them and this is why we find his disappearance very unsual."

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Suffolk Police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
